Graduate Studies News

• The Office of Graduate Studies has initiated an electronic newsletter for graduate students. Designed to inform students of important dates, policies, and events, the newsletter will be distributed once or twice per semester to all enrolled graduate students.


• The new Graduate Studies and Research website was launched in late August. Faculty are encouraged to visit the site—which includes a new research portal—and to send feedback about the site to grad@mnsu.edu.


• The Grad Sub Meet and Confer has set an ambitious agenda for the year. Agenda items include revisions to procedures for implementing the Graduate Faculty Policy, development of a Graduate Research Conference, consideration of a proposal to compensate graduate faculty for thesis and APP supervision, and discussion of the 2005 Vision for Graduate Education.

Research News

• Applications for the first round of Faculty Research Grants are due in the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (RASP; WA 325) by 4:30 p.m. on October 12, 2007. Applicants are encouraged to consult with their college representatives on the Faculty Research Committee and follow the grant guidelines carefully.


• The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (RASP) has implemented several new initiatives to assist faculty in their efforts to identify and apply for external funding. These include a Grants Administration Apprentice Program, a Proposal Development Fund, and an undergraduate research assistantship program. Visit the RASP website for more information.


• The College of Graduate Studies and Research is accepting applications for the Director of the Center for Excellence in Scholarship and Research (CESR). The application deadline is Monday, September 24, 2007. For more information and application guidelines, see the CESR website.
