Request for UGA Positions
Each year, the College of Graduate Studies and Research awards 43.5 University Graduate Assistantships (UGA) to academic programs based on a competitive application process. Graduate Assistantships are awarded in one of three categories:
- Teaching Assistant: A graduate student who (a) assists a faculty member who is the instructor of record for a course, or (b) is the instructor of record for an undergraduate course under the supervision or mentorship of a faculty member. The duties of such an appointment may include work in the classroom, in laboratories, in online learning environments, or in other learning settings.
- Research Assistant: A graduate student who is engaged in activities that support faculty research.
- Academic Assistant: A graduate student with focused responsibility for applied professional practice within an academic department or a University administrative unit. These positions may include significant student or client interaction and include an intentional student development and educational component.
[DOC] UGA Applications (746 KiB) are typically due in November and awards are announced prior to the semester break. For 2010–2011 awards, the deadlines are as follows:
