Undergraduate Research Assistants

engineering students

During the 2006-2007 academic year, the College of Graduate Studies and Research piloted an Undergraduate Research Assistant program. Based on the success of the pilot—for both the faculty and the students involved—the College is seeking funding to implement the program on a wider scale. Until external funding can be secured, the RASP Office has pledged a portion of its indirect cost recovery dollars to continue the pilot program. Undergraduate Research Assistants will be funded until the funding pool is exhausted. Please note that this program is designed to operate as a service to faculty and is not intended to compete with the Undergraduate Research Conference.

Preference will given to short-term projects that will assist faculty with their research or scholarship. When making a request, please provide the following information to Michelle Carter, Interim Director of Research and Sponsored Programs, at michelle.carter@mnsu.edu:

  • The student’s name and enrollment status (e.g., freshman, sophomore)
  • The student’s expected work assignment
  • How the student’s work will contribute to your scholarship/research
  • How many hours/weeks the student will be expected to work
