Undergraduate research at Minnesota State University, Mankato is organized through the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs and supported by the Undergraduate Research Conference. Research is an excellent way for students to become involved in an investigative or creative process and provides the opportunity for students to add to the growing body of information in a variety of fields. Through the Undergraduate Research Conference (URC), students and faculty join together to collaborate on ideas in their fields of interest. During the Undergraduate Research Conference, students present their research utilizing a variety of formats, including poster sessions, presentation software, oral presentations, exhibitions, performances, and other creative forms.

New for 2009/2010

  • NorthStar STEM Alliance Awards are available to qualified underrepresented ethnicities in specific STEM disciplines. See Funding Opportunities for details.
  • There is a maximum of five student researchers on all grant applications.
  • Faculty mentors can sponsor up to, but no more than, five grant applications and five URC Conference abstracts.
  • Grant submission is now partially electronic. Please see Grant Guidelines for details.
